1947
The Executive Yuan of the Republic of China approved founding of the Aviation Training Center under the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) in Hung-qiao, Shanghai to cultivate professional staff in civil aviation. However, the Aviation Training Center was forced to shut down due to a civil war.
1954
To accommodate the growing regional demands of the international aviation industry, the CAA, under the assistance of the visiting advisors from the Federal Aviation Administration of USA, established a task force to train the civil aviation staff as well as the domestic air force.
1970
Former Director-General, General Mao Ing-chu, was assigned to establish a training center to cultivate civil aviation technicians.
1973
On November 1, the Aviation Training Center resumed formulating operating manuals and training standards.
1983
Operation training for an office automation system launched.
1988
The Aviation Training Center began to develop the ATC ECHO-2001 Radar Simulator.
1990
The ATC ECHO-2001 Radar Simulator was formally put into operation.
1991
The ATC ECHO-2001 Radar Simulator represented the CAA to attend the first Aerospace Technology and Defense Industry Exhibition in Taipei and the Aviation Training Center began to develop the Aerodrome Control Tower Simulator.
1992
The ATC ECHO-2001 Radar Simulator represented the CAA to attend the Transportation Technology Exhibition held by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications.
1993
Aerodrome Control Tower was formally launched and exhibited with the ATC ECHO-2001 Radar Simulator in the Six-Year National Construction and Industrial Technology Exhibition.
1995
The development of the Integrated ATC Simulation Training System was completed.
1997
The website was launched (www.atc.gov.tw).
1998
Digitalized training materials were uploaded to the website, and users could access information by utilizing the online search engine.
1999
SGS Yarsley International Certification Services Ltd. certified the Quality Management System of the Center as meeting the requirements of ISO 9002.
2000
The Organization Law of the Aviation Training Institute was promulgated, and the Center was formally renamed the Aviation Training Institute.
2003
The educational administrative Web Server for on-line training programs and data input & search functions was built.
2004
A new, up-to-data generation of the 3-D Aerodrome Control Tower Simulator was officially commissioned, providing air traffic controllers with a real-time aerodrome control training.
2005

Training Manuals for Air Traffic Control, Air Navigation Electronic Engineer & Software Engineer, Flight Information, Aeronautical Telecommunication Operator, Aeronautical Meteorology, Aeronautical Fire Fighting and Flight Operation were edited and revised to establish a standard and practical training model.

2006

Instructors were trained, and the conversion of the Air Traffic Control Procedures to ICAO DOC.4444 based Air Traffic Management Procedures was put in order.

2007

Training Manuals for Air Traffic Control, Air Navigation Electronic Engineer & Software Engineer, Flight Information, Aeronautical Telecommunication Operator, Aeronautical Meteorology, Aeronautical Fire Fighting and Flight Operation were edited and revised to establish a standard and practical training mode.
